Whenever a politician says “it’s time to put politics aside” you can be assured of one thing: He is saying it for the political effect. The irony is when John McCain says it at a press conference, a press conference called after Barack Obama initiates a call to McCain recommending that they issue a joint statement on this crazy Wall Street bailout. McCain said he thought it was such a good idea that his people would draw something up. What he failed to mention was, he would be presenting as his idea in front of cameras a few hours later. Yep. John McCain doesn’t mind reaching across the aisle. Particularly, when it means a chance to steal Obama’s thunder. I particularly like the part in the press conference where he looked into the camera and said “it’s time to put politics aside.” Politicians! They are such scum.
